Meet Our Faculty and Staff: Classroom Teachers
•Administrative •Classroom Teachers •Elementary "Specials" Teachers •Extended Care Program •Support Preprimary Classroom I Souad Karaman, Montessori Teaching Certification (3-6), Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Ed; BFA, New York Institute of Technology. This is Souad's eighth year with us as a Montessori Teacher. Prior to that, she worked in our Extended Care Program for a year and was also our Elementary Art Teacher for a year. She is responsible for the oldest group in the morning class. Kathleen Kehling, Montessori Teaching Certification (3-6), Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Education; she also attended University of Cincinnati. This is Kathleen's ninth year with us; she had several years experience in preschool programs prior to joining us. Lisa Emery, BS (Montessori Education), Xavier University. She has an AMS 3-6 Certification. This is Lisa's twelfth year with us, and she will be responsible for the oldest group.
Mina Patel, AMS (3-6) Certification, Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Education. She has a BS (Accounting and Marketing), University of Texas. This is Mina's third year teaching at MAC. She will be responsible for the middle group in the morning class.
Lavina Ambani, AMS (3-6) Certification, Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Education. In addition, she has studied at the Montessori Centre International in London, UK. Lavina holds a BS (Hotel Management) from the Welcomegroup Sheraton in India. This is her second year at MAC. Lavina was with us last year for an internship and, before coming to Cincinnati, taught at a Montessori school in the UK. She will be responsible for the morning class's youngest group.
Souad Karaman, Montessori Teaching Certification (3-6), Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Ed; BFA, New York Institute of Technology. This is Sue's eighth year with us as a Montessori Teacher. Prior to that, she worked in our Extended Care Program for a year and was also our Elementary Art Teacher for a year. She is responsible for the middle group in the afternoon class.
Preprimary Classroom III Kathleen Frericks, M.Ed. (Montessori Education), Xavier University; BS (Business Administration), Xavier University. Kathleen holds an American Montessori Society (3-6) Certification. This is Kathleen's tenth year with us; she is responsible for the oldest students in the morning class. Jamie Minniear, Montessori Teaching Certification (3-6), Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Education. BS (Education), University of Cincinnati. This is Jamie’s seventh year with us; she had four years' teaching experience prior to joining us. She is responsible for the oldest group in the afternoon class.
Ellen Koenig, BS (Montessori Education), Xavier University. Ellen holds an AMS (3-6) certification and has taken graduate courses at XU at the 6-9 level. This will be Ellen's twelfth year with us. Ellen is responsible for the middle group students.
Laura Shary, Montessori Teaching Certification (3-6), Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Education. Child Development Associate Certification. This is Laura's sixth year at MAC. For six years prior to joining MAC, Laura was the Infant/Toddler Director of The Children's Center in Blue Ash (also owned by the Elder family). Brandy Sovak, BS (Early Childhood Education), University of Cincinnati. Brandy had worked with preschool/ kindergarten students for four years and as a fifth grade teacher for one year before coming to MAC. This is Brandy's fourth year teaching with us. Gena Coggins, BA (Early Childhood Education), Wilmington College. She has a State of Ohio Teaching License (PreK-3) and has worked as a substitute teacher in nearby public schools. Lisa von Haefen, M.Ed. (Montessori Education) from Xavier University. She holds State of Ohio teaching certification K-3 and AMS Certification (6-9). She also has an MS and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. This is Lisa's fifth year as a Teacher at Montessori Academy of Cincinnati.
Beth Taylor, M.Ed. (Montessori Education), Xavier University. This is Beth's twelfth year with us. She holds State of Ohio Teaching Certification Pre-Kindergarten and K-3 and American Montessori Society Preprimary (3-6) Certification. Beth has completed the materials work at the 6-9 level. This will be her second year in our Lower Elementary Program.

Megan Ball, M.Ed. (Montessori Education) from Xavier University; BS (Family Studies), Miami University. She holds an AMS Certification 6-9 and a State of Ohio Teaching License (P-3). This is Megan’s ninth year with us.
Regina Froehle, BS (Biology, Chemistry, Math, Education and Horticulture) from the University of Cincinnati. She currently is enrolled in the Master's of Education (Montessori) program at Xavier University. She taught for two years in the Cincinnati Public School system. This is Regina's first year with Montessori Academy.
Upper Elementary
Amy Weller, BS (Montessori Education), Xavier University. Amy holds a State of Ohio Teaching Certificate and AMS Certifications (6-9 and 9-12). This is Amy’s eighth year with us; she had six years Montessori teaching experience prior to joining us.
Sarah Goldstein, M.Ed. (Montessori Education), Xavier University. Sarah has a BA (major in Fine Arts, with a minor in Biology) from Earlham College. Sarah holds a State of Ohio Teaching Certification for grades K-8. This is her first year at MAC, and she brings eight years of Montessori teaching experience to our school. Sarah most recently served as both acting principal and as a classroom teacher for another Montessori school in Ohio.
Middle School
Leslie Schall, BS (Education), University of Cincinnati. She holds a State of Ohio Teaching Certification (K-12) and AMS Certification 6-9. She has completed Montessori Middle School Training and is wrapping up her Masters study at Xavier University. Leslie taught Kindergarten Enrichment for five years and Lower Elementary for five years. This will be her second year in Middle School.
Mary Ann Zerhusen, M.Ed (Secondary Education), Xavier University, BS (Psychology), XU. This will be her second year teaching at MAC, where she serves as Math Specialist for Middle School. Her teaching experience is extensive, including ten years in the public and private arenas.
