My daughter has attended MAC for the past 3 years and it has been wonderful! We love that almost if not all the teachers and staff know my daughter and treat her so kindly. It is also amazing how the staff at MAC knows every student’s name it seems like. We will continue to attend MAC for the near known future.

We've had a truly wonderful experience at this Montessori school. Each student receives so much individual attention and care, with personalized learning plans that help them thrive at their own pace. The focus on independence has been amazing to watch—our child is growing not just academically, but also in confidence and self-direction. The teachers are absolutely fantastic - warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in the kids’ growth. We're so grateful to be part of this community.

The teachers at M•A•C have been great and actually caring about my son and trying to come up with ideas and plans that best serve him in his education, while still making friends and being social.

The staff. Every aspect is covered and taken care of by the staff. From education to lunch to coming and going. Best school, hands down!
Our Story
Montessori Academy of Cincinnati originally began as The Child’s Place in 1987 with one Montessori preschool and kindergarten classroom. Over time, our school community has continued to grow as families recognized the value of an education that respects each child’s individuality and promotes independence, responsibility, and joyful learning. As enrollment expanded, so did our vision.
In 1999, we established our Elementary program and officially became Montessori Academy of Cincinnati. By 2004, we launched our Middle School program, continuing to guide students through the important developmental stages leading into secondary and higher education.
Through it all, our purpose has remained the same: to help your child grow into a well-adjusted individual through Montessori principles that foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while instilling strong values and a lifelong love of learning. Research cited by the American Montessori Society shows that nurturing and responsive educational environments, like ours, support stronger emotional development, language growth, social skills, and long-term academic success.
Research led by the University of Virginia also found that children enrolled in Montessori preschool programs demonstrated stronger outcomes in reading, executive functioning, memory, and social understanding when compared to children in more traditional educational environments.
Megan Thomas, School Leader at Montessori Academy of Cincinnati, explains, “The mission at MAC is to build a community grounded in respect, self-direction, and a love of learning.” This philosophy continues to shape every classroom, every relationship, and every opportunity we provide students each day.
Our mission is to promote the growth and development of your child from early childhood through the middle teenage years by instilling a love of learning and ensuring a solid grounding in the basics of education, helping them achieve their full potential and prepare for secondary and higher education. We are committed to creating a safe and encouraging space where your child will feel respected, supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow socially, emotionally, academically, and personally.

What Makes Our Montessori School Different?
Families often come to Montessori Academy of Cincinnati because they are searching for a school where their child will be truly known and supported as an individual.
Many parents are drawn to our student-paced approach to learning, where our students are not restricted by traditional grade-level expectations. Instead, your child will be challenged according to their readiness, strengths, and developmental pace.
At our school, we understand that every child learns differently. Megan Thomas explains, “The individualization that happens at MAC is truly unique. Students are able to spend extra time developing skills in areas of growth, while also excelling and working above grade level in other areas if they are ready.” This personalized support will help your little one build confidence and develop strong academic and social-emotional foundations.
Our Montessori environment also intentionally teaches independence, self-motivation, creativity, respect, and responsibility. Your child will learn to manage their time, collaborate with peers, advocate respectfully for themselves and others, and become a positive contributor to a larger community. Within our mixed-age classrooms, younger students learn from older role models while older students develop leadership, empathy, and confidence through mentorship opportunities.
Families also appreciate the close-knit nature of our school community. Small class sizes and strong teacher-to-student relationships allow our guides to truly know your child and create a warm, supportive environment where they feel emotionally safe and connected.
At Montessori Academy of Cincinnati, we believe your child will thrive when they feel respected, valued, and capable.
Early Childhood Leadership & Staff
One of the most important questions families ask before enrollment is who will guide and care for their child each day. At Montessori Academy of Cincinnati, your child will be supported by experienced Montessori educators who are deeply committed to your child’s development, individualized education, and authentic Montessori learning. All of our Montessori classroom guides are Montessori-trained, and all staff members meet the educational requirements of the State of Ohio. Our guides continue their professional development in areas such as Montessori concepts, Conscious Discipline, school safety, CPR, First Aid, communicable disease recognition, and child safeguarding training, all so that your child is safe, seen, and supported every single day.

Achievements & Accreditations
Families want reassurance that they are choosing a private school committed to both educational excellence and whole-child development. At Montessori Academy of Cincinnati, our programs are intentionally designed to support your child academically, socially, and emotionally from early childhood through middle school. Our low teacher-to-student ratios, including 1:6 for toddlers, 1:8 for transitional preschool, 1:10 for preprimary, and 1:15 for elementary, allow our guides to truly know your child while providing meaningful, tailored learning opportunities and emotional support. Research from organizations including the American Montessori Society and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences confirms that smaller learning environments and Montessori education support stronger developmental, academic, and social outcomes, giving your family the peace of mind that your child is growing within a nurturing and supportive community.
“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”
